Spring Arts and Crafts Festival

What's the buzz around town? We may be having a Spring Arts and Crafts Festival in Downtown Blairsville (North Georgia Mountain area of the USA). Sharry Morrison at Art & Soul Artisan Gallery is behind it all and with Janet Hartman's help it will happen. *Please note - We did have the Spring Arts and Crafts Fest, the Tour de Georgia party pleased everyone, and things are happening in Downtown Blairsville! See website for more details and photos.

More excitement - Tour de Georgia is returning to Blairsville on April 26, 2008. There will be a "Night before the Climb" party with free music and lots of fun on Friday, April 25. Come on out to the Seasons Inn Parking Lot for an evening of celebration as we welcome all the visitors to Blairsville!

Traffic Enhancement Grant

Comment & Question: Congratulations on becoming a Better Hometown. Does it mean that Blairsville will get a grant or funding for improvments? We need red lights and better traffic management.

Thank you, we are very excited about the Better Hometown designation. As a Better Hometown, the city of Blairsville now has access to various programs and resources offered through the Department of Community Affairs. It does open the door to many funding sources, including low interest loans for property owners and grants opportunities. In the upcoming months, we will be reviewing our plans and contacting the appropriate agencies that can help accomplish our goals. Also, we have applied with the Georgia Department of Transportation for a Transportation Enhancement grant, that, if approved, will help us improve pedestrian safety and the ease of getting around downtown.
