Traffic Enhancement Grant

Comment & Question: Congratulations on becoming a Better Hometown. Does it mean that Blairsville will get a grant or funding for improvments? We need red lights and better traffic management.

Thank you, we are very excited about the Better Hometown designation. As a Better Hometown, the city of Blairsville now has access to various programs and resources offered through the Department of Community Affairs. It does open the door to many funding sources, including low interest loans for property owners and grants opportunities. In the upcoming months, we will be reviewing our plans and contacting the appropriate agencies that can help accomplish our goals. Also, we have applied with the Georgia Department of Transportation for a Transportation Enhancement grant, that, if approved, will help us improve pedestrian safety and the ease of getting around downtown.
