Spring Arts and Crafts Festival

What's the buzz around town? We may be having a Spring Arts and Crafts Festival in Downtown Blairsville (North Georgia Mountain area of the USA). Sharry Morrison at Art & Soul Artisan Gallery is behind it all and with Janet Hartman's help it will happen. *Please note - We did have the Spring Arts and Crafts Fest, the Tour de Georgia party pleased everyone, and things are happening in Downtown Blairsville! See website for more details and photos.

More excitement - Tour de Georgia is returning to Blairsville on April 26, 2008. There will be a "Night before the Climb" party with free music and lots of fun on Friday, April 25. Come on out to the Seasons Inn Parking Lot for an evening of celebration as we welcome all the visitors to Blairsville!

Traffic Enhancement Grant

Comment & Question: Congratulations on becoming a Better Hometown. Does it mean that Blairsville will get a grant or funding for improvments? We need red lights and better traffic management.

Thank you, we are very excited about the Better Hometown designation. As a Better Hometown, the city of Blairsville now has access to various programs and resources offered through the Department of Community Affairs. It does open the door to many funding sources, including low interest loans for property owners and grants opportunities. In the upcoming months, we will be reviewing our plans and contacting the appropriate agencies that can help accomplish our goals. Also, we have applied with the Georgia Department of Transportation for a Transportation Enhancement grant, that, if approved, will help us improve pedestrian safety and the ease of getting around downtown.

Hometown Holiday in Blairsville, Georgia

Another special event is coming up on Saturday December 1, 2007.
Come on out for a fun day of activities including a real parade. The theme of the parade this year is "favorite Christmas stories". Children of all ages will love the marching band, santa, colorful floats, and live horses.
December 1, 2007 is the day for making memories in downtown Blairsville. Bring you camera for photos with Santa and take avantage of the many other great photo ops. There will be carolers, a live auction, a silent auction, the lighting of the great tree, and several open houses including the Mountain Life and Heritage Musuem (and Payne cabin). See you on Saturday!

Halloween on the Square

This witch is a cutie. There were hundreds of little trick or treaters at Hometown Halloween on the Square, October 31, 2007. What a successful evening! Games, contests, and of course, lots of candy. Blairsville is such a great place to live and to visit.

Were you at the event? We would love to read your comments, requests, and suggestions for next year.
